They have no power in any arm of the government which is what the Americans who bothered to vote wanted.

This is pretty much all they can do for the next two years.

And yet when the republicans were in the same minority situation, they have been able to block tons of major government functions, judicial appointments, and laws being passed. When the dems were in power they needed right wing compromises somehow because “otherwise the republicans would block it”.

The past 40 years have literally been lesson after lesson on how to completely make the machine grind to a halt when you have an opposition party. They choose to take not one single lesson from it and not lift a single finger when it matters.

It’s far easier to break shit than fix it.

Do you see Republicans creating laws? No, they are just breaking them which doesn’t require dem support to pass new ones

And just like that, democrats forget that the filibuster exists. Because the filibuster is only for blocking progressive policy.

They’re supposed to be drumming up public opposition and resistance to Trump, in and outside of government, not just crying about it. Right now America needs them to be politicians, not legislators.

Not true. But they could and should have done better. And in Biden’s case they should have vigorously prosecuted Trump and his follow insurrectionists.

Obama is widely considered the last time the Democrats were governing for the people rather than the ultra rich (despite reneging on like half his promises), but Biden? That man failed to do the most important thing he could’ve done: fucking charge Trump for insurrection. And no, I’m not moving the goalposts; I just don’t see value in arguing Biden’s policy merits (though his biggest legacy is funding genocide in the middle east so… yeah).

Well I don’t care; Trump is now in the White House and wreaking havoc. The only thing Biden left America that isn’t/won’t be destroyed by god king Donald is corpses and rubble in Gaza, so whatever great things he did do (again, not accepting that statement but can’t be assed to dispute it) either disappeared or will disappear in a few months.

That is false. Source: Republicans over the last fifteen years… If you were an adult when Obama was in office, you should remember this. If you’re too young, go read about it.

The Republicans weren’t in the minority during Obama’s term except for the first 2 years when he got a shit ton done. But in 2010 they got elected to the majority in the House. They weren’t a minority party except in the senate until 2014 when they managed to take it.

The reason the Republicans were able to Kneecap Obama wasn’t because they were the minority party and the minority party can just do that, it was because they had power. Because the voters elected them in the midterm election with the lowest turn out in decades and that shaped the rest of his presidency.

Democrats right now don’t have any power besides the Filibuster and that is definitely going to be used for legislation. But Republicans are also going to use Reconciliation to do some of their most influential legislation because that way the Democrats can’t do shit.

      “Slammed”

      “Pounded”

      “Owned”

      etc…

This is the consequence of mistaking the theater of the act for an act of theater. Appearances matter, narratives matter: but do not mistake them for the thing they represent. A flourish is necessary, but not the same as the strike itself.

I remember when the qons broke into a SCIF meeting and paid no penalty for it.

Yeah, it was probably performative bullshit. But at least it demonstrated that qons stood for something (even if in their case, it was total nonsense).

Voters would like to see Democrats fighting for them.

They can follow the republican playbook. They can disrupt, delay, ignore calls to quorum, filibuster, generally shit-talk the sitting government, and crucify fellow democrats that capitulate on every platform and in every instance. They will still lose but it would be a damn sight better than watching this group of corporate dick-sucks flounder around like they are just lost.

Thank Jebus for AOC and that other dude whose name escapes me at the moment but mostly the one-man army that has been Bernie Sanders since the election. You should see every single one, especially those ranking democrats, in the media every day just flat out mother fucking this administration and the Republicans just as the Republicans did for the last 4 years to Biden. Instead, we get crickets or sound bites about how the last election wasn’t the American people rebuking the democratic party because that’s what we need right now Nancy, old people telling us what we just saw wasn’t what actually happened.

As long as they have a pulse there should be a fight, the time for decorum is long past.

so you’re just criticizing them for not giving you entertainment and calling them feckless pussies as if they’re nazi collaborators even when they’re openly accusing the new regime of being traitors

supporting them would be more effective
