If that fact was recently publicized to the point that you could reasonably say it applied to 150 million people then you might have a point

say it applied to 150 million people

Except the original comment was not. It was applied it to 334 million people and, critically, people on Lemmy, 99.998% of whom are in no way supporters of Trump and are in serious pain over the election results. They are your allies in the world of sane people and you lump them in with the people we mutually detest. That’s not just horrendously insensitive, it’s also stupid.

You can be upset with the results of the election but it doesn’t change them. In a very real sense what you wanted to happen is irrelevant. A second Trump administration is the collective will of the American people and the rest of the world has every right to be annoyed with us for it.

And I’m sure insulting the people you’d like to do better at changing the situation is definitely going to help with your annoyance.

I mean seriously, this is a bit like saying to a trans person like me that while you are annoyed at the transphobia that kills people it’s really my fault for not “doing something” about it.

          WTF man.

No it’s not like that at all. Americans chose this. You’re an American. Stop making excuses and accept that this is how the world sees us and we deserve it.
