“I have so many Black friends that if I were a racist, they wouldn’t be friends, they would know better than anybody, and fast,” Trump said. “They would not be with me for two minutes if they thought I was racist—and I’m not racist!”

Name One Time Trump Was Racist

(not current! only includes up to 2017)

1973: The Nixon Administration sued Trump for refusing to rent to black people

1980s: Trump’s casinos were accused of hiding black staff when Trump visited

1989: Trump took out a full page ad arguing for the death penalty for a group of black men (The ‘Central Park Five’), effectively putting a bounty on their heads and plaguing them with a lifetime of death threats. He was sued by the Justice Department for discrimination.

1991: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kinds of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day…I think that the [black] guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is.

1992: Trump’s casino was fined $200,000 for transferring black dealers off certain tables to appease racist patrons.

1993: Trump said Native American casinos shouldn’t be allowed because, “They don’t look like Indians to me.”

2000: Trump ran a series of attack ads against Native American casinos, alleging (with no proof) that they were guilty of crimes.

2004: Trump fired a black contestant from ‘The Apprentice” for being over-educated.

2010: Trump argued in favor of segregating Muslims in Lower Manhattan.

2011: Birtherism. Trump alleged that Obama was Kenyan based on nothing but skin color. He’s neither apologized, nor renounced that claim.

2015 (1): Trump called Mexican immigrants “rapists” who are “bringing crime and drugs” to the US.

2015 (2): Trump called for “a ban on all Muslims entering the US.”

2016(1): Trump called for a Mexican judge to recuse himself based on nothing other than his race. Paul Ryan said, “This was the textbook definition of a racist comment.”

2016 (2): Trump regularly retweeted material from white supremacists and neo-Nazis during his campaign.

2016(3): Trump tweeted a picture alleging Hillary was Jewish or controlled by Jewish people.

2016(4): The Trump campaign adopted Nixon’s “Law and Order” rhetoric which was based in racial fear mongering.

2016(5): Trump told black voters, “What do you have to lose?”

2017(1): Trump asked a black reporter to set up a meeting with the black caucus simply because she was black.

2017(2): “…some very fine people on both sides”, said Trump of a violent Nazi rally.

There’s a lot of depth to this reply, and it hits the nail on the head.

Seriously, as an emotional being, the guy is just empty. From his comment about not understanding why soldiers would go to war when they get nothing out of it, to his never ending willingness (eagerness, even) to toss literally anyone under the bus to save his own ass. This guy really has no earthly concept of sacrifice, honor, duty, community… seriously pull out a fucking thesaurus.

I think he is the single most self-centered person I’ve ever seen, heard of, or read about. I’m not even being hyperbolic. The greatest writers in history wouldn’t put a character like him to paper because readers wouldn’t buy it!

You say that’s how he understands friendship, and I agree. I’d only add that he genuinely thinks everyone else is just wrong about it. It’s kind of sad, and also kind of amazing to watch.

Don’t forget Herbert Cain (safely dead from the Trump plague), so he can’t deny being Donald’s friend (donated to Trump, so must be reasonably friendly with him).

Kinda unrelated but what do you do to prove youre not rasist? Like some people literally dont believe that im hungarian but not racist(btw thats xenophobia and/or racism…). I usually just say i have black friends and im just not racist but that just makes me seem racist… I know the people who dont believe me are douches but there are people youre forced to spend time with.

“well, I don’t want to be racist and I try not to be racist. Is there something I can improve on or that I’m ignorant of?”

If you aren’t racist then it flips the onus back on them to prove you are racist, while also showing any offense you might have caused to be accidental and that you are willing to self-improve

What in OPs post implies that he/she is doing racist shit during his/her whole life? It’s a valid questions IMO and no reason to get personally insulting.

How do you prove you’re not racist?

You don’t. If someone is falsely accusing you of being a racist, that’s on them, not on you.

Now if someone is calling out a specific action or something you said… well have a listen to what they have to say. They may be right or may be wrong, but if you’re listening to people and are willing to learn you’re not a racist.

If someone thinks that you being Hungarian makes you a racist… you’re right they’re being xenophobic. That’s on them. There’s no point in wasting your time on someone that’s looking for a reason to dislike you because of where you’re from. Even if you could prove you’re not a racist, they’d find some other way to rationalize a reason for disliking you.

I would only add that if someone calls out a specific behavior, really listen to them. Try to see their point of view. Often times, racism is about perspective, and it helps for both sides of that discussion to see and understand the other’s perspective. While their call out may just be a misunderstanding, it doesn’t lessen the hurt feelings and strong emotions that come with that.

A good example of this is the push for flat, or no, income tax; usually to being replaced by increased usage tax/sales tax/VAT. In the US, poor households tend to be minorities, and such a policy would disproportionately affect those people. Simply pushing for the policy isn’t necessarily racist. Not listening to economists who say the policy would disproportionately hurt minorities, would likely be seen by many as racist.

America isn’t racist anymore. Not in the classical sense.

We are closer to caste, but we use race as a criteria…people of a “lesser race” are default placed into a lower caste, but not necessarily, since blood, marriage, or loyalty can get them out of it.

        It’s not racism, it’s racism+.

White caste is totally okay with accepting certain people from black caste, or Asian caste, or Latino caste.

It’s not as black and white as it was a couple generations ago. Irish and Italians are white now. Far more accepting.

We still have deep psychological instincts to be more distrustful of others. But who is an “other”, we’ve long since learned, is defined by upbringing, not a certain distinct quality. We learn who the others are by experiences, and the words and actions of those we respect (peers and elders).

We now push our identities into several different buckets…race is only one, gender and sexuality another, mental capabilities, music tastes, vehicle choice, job, whatever. We still segmentize and judge, just with extra steps.

      America isn’t racist anymore.

      Uh…

people of a “lesser race” are default placed into a lower caste, but not necessarily, since blood, marriage, or loyalty can get them out of it.

That’s a Reagan Era take on race. But we’re doing Retvrn style racism under the Trump Era. The idea that you can just be a Thomas Sowell / Clarence Thomas grade ass kisser and get ahead is receding. You increasingly run afoul of the Great Replacement types who believe you’ve stolen a white person’s job.
