The “someone else” is the part I’m more concerned about than his stepping down. Who would ensure a win with a four month campaign?

No one. Tons of people have been over this recently. Last time such a scenario happened was when LBJ walked away in 1968 and Nixon was easily swept into power. The parallels are uncanny. Anyone calling for Biden to walk away at this stage are completely ignorant or acting in bad faith.

LBJ walked away because RFK was likely going to dominate him in the primaries. This situation is much more bleak for Democrats because their isn’t a well known and well liked alternative like there was in 1968.

Yeah if Biden had promoted someone else starting a while back it would be different. But everyone calling for this now is playing with fire. They’re more concerned about not losing than rallying around Biden to win. Pushing him out at this point is going to cause enough disruption to guarantee Trump wins.

You know if Biden stepped down and showed he actually cared about the country by campaigning for the new candidate it wouldn’t matter.

Acting like a new candidate will be the downfall of the country is just as bad as a bad faith argument. Throwing your hands in the air and saying “oh well that’s how it is” is stupid. We don’t have to accept Biden because he is the incumbent.
