"Valve’s in-development moba Deadlock picked up a couple new non-game features in an update this week, all of which are intended to make the experience of play among a larger population much better. The major first update is a low priority queue, which will place players in a secondary queue that’s less likely to match. Players can be placed in low priority by abandoning games or for bad behavior, and will have to complete a certain number of full games in order to return to normal matchmaking.
Players can also now lose access to certain capabilities in-game as punishments, such as matchmaking, voice and text chat, pausing, and even reporting other players for abuse.
It’s a nice step forward, and an inevitable one, in what will probably be one of the highest-profile open development cycles since Valorant’s late 2019 and early 2020 betas. They’ll need that pretty quick, to be honest—they’ve already got cheaters messing around in there which is honestly pretty sad for the cheaters. It’s not even a finished game.
Deadlock has certainly been the subject of much discussion here at PC Gamer, with Morgan Park letting us all know that even if it has guns it’s probably not a shooter and Justin Wagner ignoring him completely in order to go and play more deadlock.
“Deadlock gives me the same feeling Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2 did before they consumed my life,” said Wagner.
“Deadlock is an iteration on the MOBA, but it’s not an incremental one. While so many games have come and gone angling to “reinvent” the genre by shifting the camera angle or tweaking a few mechanics, this game is so stuffed with new ideas it’s difficult to appraise just how much depth it all lends,” he continued.
Either way, everyone can agree on who the best gargoyle in Deadlock is."
Dota is top down 3D. Isometric is a whole different thing that describes what type of projection is used to render the scene
No, it’s top down. Isometric specifically refers to a parallel projection
No. Inflation is a general increase in price/decrease in buying power per dollar. This is specifically about one class of item increasing in cost to absorb a government subsidy, especially when that subsidy was meant to alleviate a cost to the citizen.
Watched the same thing happen on a smaller scale back when analog TV broadcasting was phased out and we got vouchers for digital TV tuners in America. They all cost around $25 or less. As soon as the vouchers were given out, the prices doubled to $50
Surely this is a well studied phenomenon with a name, right?
Only because wages across the board are in the dumpster. If the kitchen guys were making $30/hr instead of $10/he they’d be complaining the other way
No. I already sort by all, and new is generally too low quality and frankly still too slow. I also switch to all on Reddit once I’ve skimmed over the first couple pages of my feed
Yep. Weirdly, I didn’t do any work to populate reddit either. It’s almost like that would be impractical and unrealistic for an end user to do.
I don’t have the time. This just fills the empty gaps in my day, before bed winding down
Just… content. I open my Lemmy app once and I’ve seen everything it will show me for the day, or sometimes for multiple days. I open reddit and I can scroll for hours.
Thanks for your service. I’m more of a lurker, though I tend to comment more here than on Reddit, and I have so many other things filling my life that I have to tend to. This is just a distraction before bed or filling a dull moment.
Every time reddit announces something dumb I open Lemmy again. I’d rather be here on principle but the content/users just aren’t here yet. Where are the cross post bots?
It killed the promise of affordable content we had for a decade. When Netflix was the only game in town, you paid less for it and got more.
Nothing special, I got it to give me a recipe for meth and a list of sites to pirate games. Stuff like that
I’ve heard reference to that and Thor backpedaling calling it ‘car salesman logic’ or something. Do you know where the clip is?
This is only viable if you’re a savvy pirate. Streaming services are limiting you to 720p unless you’re on some smart TV platform now
90% of mine is just programming syntax. The rest is shit that Google can’t answer anymore. Then 1% is me trying to trick it into telling me about illegal stuff
Ok, but my gen 1 Chromecast stopped working years ago, and it was sluggish, unreliable to cast to and virtually unusable long before that. My Chromecast Ultra has steadily declined in usability too, the whole Chromecast UX has fallen off a cliff the past few years. It used to be fucking magic and just worked with everything. Now my Chromecast with Google TV only really works satisfactorily when I bother to update smarttube and pair it with the code.
The whole platform is trash these days compared to the original gen 1 experience. I went from living in the future, only using my phone to watch TV 10 years ago, to slowly migrating back to a fucking remote control like it’s 1980 again. Say what you want, but the promise that gen 1 Chromecast delivered on has been dead and buried for a while now.
I’m currently getting MEETS_DEVICE_INTREGRITY with play integrity fix, which is enough for Google Pay to work. The only thing that I haven’t been able to do is drive for Uber or use RCS oddly enough. RCS happened to fix itself about a month ago as well.
