2·6 months agoThat or military districts. It doesn’t matter though, the Republicans had enough votes to pass it on their own. These Dems are, exactly as you say, just playing it safe at home.

It seems very likely that this uncharacteristically conservative move was calculated to produce these results. The house won’t pass any pro immigration laws, so letting the SC strike this down would let the administration essentially leave things where they were and say “can’t do anything else oh well”, effectively removing the topic from election discourse and putting the ball firmly in the Republican court, who won’t be able to get anything past the Senate.
They could replace the skin with foam board, but all that weight savings would just let them reduce the battery to save more on the manufacturing costs.
FYI, it only weighs about 400lbs more than the F150 Lightning, so the skin probably doesn’t add much weight over a traditional truck skin. The four wheel steering tech and glass roof probably add more.
It’s funny, the world was excited for basically a teched out Toyota Tundra with shitloads of battery. The designers were ready to build that, and they could have kept literally everything else the same (steer by wire, steel skin, glass, bed cover, etc) and everyone would have been happy.
Even looking weird people were excited for it.
But then they deleted half the range and doubled the price and ::pikachu face:: everyone hates it.
Sure, musk was the reason it looks weird, but I’d be willing to bet he’s 100% the reason for those other things too, because they likely had to cut weight and size to make it’s weird look physical possible.
(I’d still buy it if it had 500+ range)

1·7 months agoMine drove me from my driveway, through my neighborhood, through stop signs, railroad crossings, stop lights, interchanges, highways, on and off ramps, 85 miles an hour and down to a crawl in heavy and light traffic, in rain and on clear days, almost 200 miles round trip once a week for a year. But I’m in the U.S. with access to the FSD stack. I’ve driven rentals with advanced TACC tech, and they have failed to impress ( with the exception of Blue Cruise, I haven’t had a chance to try that yet). If you get a chance to drive a Tesla enrolled in “FSD (Supervised)” as they call it now, I highly recommend it. It will get mad at you if you aren’t looking straight ahead though, and the “keep your hands on the wheel” nags generally only happen if conditions get shitty or you play with the screen/stop paying attention to the road.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought FSD wasn’t available in Europe until basically last month, and even then it’s still pending some regulatory hurdles. So you’re comparing VW’s lane keeping tech to Tesla’s most basic TACC (autopilot) right?

Enabling the PIN mitigates this issue entirely. Can’t drive it away if you don’t know the PIN, even if you have the physical key, fob, or phone.
My kids started getting into one piece, an Anime I admittedly never watched, so I watch it with them. I get the hype now, there have been several times we’ve torn through 8+ episodes in one sitting. Skip Intro makes it fly by.
