Sometimes people manage other computers so it’s not practical to configure all of them and you can’t trust what people have configured for the power button

I saw other people mentioning managing multiple computers in an offise space. I wouldn’t trust that everybody wound configure the power button action.

It’s an easier click target when it’s in the corner. Moving cursor from the middle to the corner is negligible for me since I can reach the whole screen with relatively minor mouse movement.

In the end it’s a muscle memory thing for me. Having the button in the middle just means I have to look for it in a different location than I’ve used to over the years.

But wont this change how search is displayed? Honestly, I hope I can keep my alphabetical order. Learning some algorithmic categorization is not what I want to spend my time at work.

I just Alt + F4 from the desktop or just press the power button. I always change it to regular old shutdown.

Never thought about ultrawide screens, that makes sense. Other than that I see no improvement whatsoever. Corner space is way easier to hit with a mouse, but even when using keyboard shortcuts having it in the middle is just an additional adjustment from what it used to be.

An OS should get out of my way and let me do what I do. Changing design language forces me to relearn what I had already had a flow for. In other words it’s utterly useless.

And I just know I’m gonna hate that automatic categorisation of apps, just as I hate web searches from start menu. Alphabetical order is predictable, but this I’d have to relearn.

Why use an app when there’s a web site? In case of Wikipedia I fail to see any functional benefit for an app.

The new animated Spider-man movies were awesome, fucking loved it. Also Deadpool still seems to keep up the quality when comparing the first to. The boys also rock, I just hope the show doesn’t drag on too long. I’d say superhero media still has good stuff, it’s just way more saturatred, so good stuff has to stand out somehow.

Hmm… I’ve stopped watching Marvel after the endgame, I just felt oversaturated with superhero stories. Never recovered.

I’ve never really liked Star wars. I was exposed to it at an age where all I cared was cool action sequences and the prequels did it better. Tried watching the new ones and they were just boring.

Pixar seems to be doing fine? The second inside out was fine. I mean it’s more of the same as the first one, but it’s a good kids movie. Not sure about their other stuff, but I don’t recall anything particularly bad.

However, you can save encrypted ssh, gpg keys and save that encryption key in the OS keyring.

How is IAs approach much different to that of a regular library?

True, they were digitising physical books and lending copies. But this is not much different from how a regular library works (assuming controlled digital lending, yeah I heard aboud Covid period 😕).

I’m not an expert on American law (know nothing about it), but reading the articles and comments I thing there’s an argument to be made for IA functioning as a library.

I use logseq for work notes and Obsidian for personal. Obsidian is more markdown which I like for my loose notes. logseq, on the other hand, is more focused on productivity and it’s fully opensource. Obsidian is only free for personal use, however their notes being closer to standart markdown means that they could be openned with any text editor and be just as functional.

Syncing between computers is easy – it’s just a git repo. Dealing with mobile is tricier but I never needed it so can’t comment much.

We do add various cheeses to our pasta and it tastes good. It’s usually just a quick and easy meal but it’s nothing special.

Not sure how mac and cheese (not the box stuff) could be much different. Although, I’ve never had a meal that would be specifically called mac and cheese.

Dunno, it’s fine for me. As a messenging app it moslty gets out of my way and lets me communicate. It has all of the important functionality and creature comforts. Also, it already has some bloat (stories, whatever that crypto payment thing was/is). And the UI / UX is perfectly fine as is.

Although, as a dev myself, I hate UX work, it’s just boring and unfulfilling. I get why UX is often an afterthought. First it has to be functional, anything beyond that is secondary.
