Just look at the Catholics!
Just look at the Catholics!
The need for year-over-year growth is ultimately strangling the system. At the moment it is easy to lay a bunch of people off and claim that growth. Eventually (at some point in the future), it won’t be mathematically possible unless the C-suite starts taking pay cuts, or they at least start eschewing their crazy bonuses. Expect them to milk that for good press (“These forward-thinking CEOs are dumping the bonuses for… insert any random bullshit here!”) or other such marketing nonsense.
Eventually, it will stop, when the system no longer functions at all. Infinite year-over-year growth across the board is an impossibility.
I remember arguing with my boomer parents about Sanders when he was winning primaries. I shit you not, my mother looked me dead in the eye and said: “Bernie is too old. We need Biden.”
I’ll definitely never forget that.
I’ve been playing from the couch for a few years now.
I’ve got a DS4 and DualSense which I use via Bluetooth for games with support. Most times I’ll have Xbox controller icons, but I don’t care about that.
I have a Steam Controller that I use for most things that don’t have support, especially strategy games. That right pad is a beautiful mouse replacement. It’s also fantastic for couch flight simming since you can use the grip buttons to change action sets.
Of course I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, but I find myself using them for gaming very, very rarely.
I’ve been on Pop with the Liquorix kernel for a couple of years, but I’m in the process of switching over to Arch.
He’s not wrong. It is the most sensible thing I think I’ve ever heard from Donald Trump.
Trump never wanted to “drain the swamp”. He wanted people to look elsewhere. He is the swamp.
I don’t disagree, but I do wonder where the line is. Is there no room for accidents? Is someone to be on the line after Alec Baldwin?
Quelle surprise
I’m on my first all-AMD system in years (7600x) and could not be happier. Performance is fantastic. Good enough that I mostly leave it in Eco mode, since I’m also using an air cooler for it.
Not that it is directly CPU-relataed, but my gaming rig runs Linux, which is something I never thought would be a thing, and to that end: if you are running Linux, extra points for AMD on the GPU front, since the drivers are in the kernel.
And they chose this photo?
We all do, Joe. That doesn’t really change anything.
Event happens.
Internet floods with conspiracies about Event.
News reports that there are conspiracies about Event.
Rinse and repeat. “Event” can be virtually anything of public note.
The problem with that isn’t Bernie. The problem is Trump. Bernie splitting the Dem vote is a more sure-fire way to get Trump than Biden running as it is.
Remember when a huge coalition of people wanted RBG to retire? And then she didn’t, and those people took it as courage or some such other virtue?
some people here on Lemmy get upset at any mention of Ranked Choice Voting and respond that, in their opinion, it’s not perfect
To those people, I say: do not let perfection be the enemy of progress.
Also, it’s absurd, because it’s clearly better than what we have now. I suspect many of those people are trolls.
I’d love to see parents flabbergasted by their children refusing the shellfish daddy worked hard to buy, and making sure their clothes don’t use mixed fabrics.
It’s almost like all these CEOs and MBAs are just shooting in the dark because of the $$$ in their eyes, but the fact remains that the market is no longer responding favorably to their absolute need for year-over-year growth.
I was in Texas for my first time ever and had my first ever Yeungling (it isn’t available where I live). I didn’t know it was now the choice for the bigots. But I do know: it’s really not a great beer.
Neither is Bud (/Light), but at least that doesn’t taste like a malty homebrew.
