I wonder if this has to do with an increase in console players moving to PC, or at least adding a PC to their gaming lineup at home. That and the Steam Deck which we saw also increase Linux’s market share.

It may not necessarily be PC gamers moving to controllers as much as its console players who have been most comfortable with a controller.

That’s how I am. I’ve been a PC gamer for a little over 10 years now (played PC growing up with Roller Coaster Tycoon, Sims, etc. but not counting that until I got an actual gaming PC) but I was mostly into consoles before this. But controllers have been a huge part of my playing experience and I’ve always preferred it for most games except the top downs like Sims and Roller Coaster Tycoon which I did play on console with controller but the PC’s ports doing have the same schemes available for those games.

Since I prefer controller over mouse and keyboard, it’s a lot of games pre-Xbox One era for me. But that is subjective because a lot of people prefer mouse and keyboard.

Games like Oblivion never had a proper way of getting a controller to work with them on the PC release and any tries to get it to work flat out suck. I’ve tried Steam’s button mapping and even that doesn’t work for a lot of these games. But working through an emulator helps translate my controller to the game with almost no issues.

Considering how the Steam Deck plays and you’re usually using it as a controller unless docked, this would be nearly any game from this time period.

Still runs Windows. Hard pass for that reason alone.

I imagine they’d have some customers who would flip over that even that it’s the same size portion they wanted to order.

I always go for 720 or 1080 despite having decent 4K TVs. My reasoning is file size too but because I don’t have a ton of space to spare for all the stuff I want to store. I have about 2TB left but that’s going to get used up eventually.

There are some things I’ll go for the high quality stuff like Super Mario Bros which looks amazing but that’s rare for me.

30GB for one movie is nuts.

Granted, it’s a lot of games in one like other top down tycoon manager games and has some elements of tower defense.

Space Colony is an older game that was like Sims in space. I got this at Big Lots years ago and played some of it and apparently this is the remastered version on Steam.

It was mainly around Ubisoft’s The Crew as the latest conversation. This was about a month ago.

Ubisoft took the game offline and also removed from customers’ digital libraries with a message suggesting they try the newer installments in the series instead of the game they paid for.

Could be market share. More PSN accounts than Nintendo and Xbox in competition.

You’re unfortunately correct. IT departments will just implement a new GPO to modify registry or otherwise hope to block this or pause this update until they absolutely have no choice and then hope for the best or hope to block it later down the line.

I had GamePass for a few years and just canceled last month. I barely used it anymore except for Minecraft and Halo Infinite and don’t play those anymore. I might even own Minecraft and have forgotten.

But then I signed back up for Nintendo Online because my girlfriend and her son just got Switches and we play Animal Crossing together. But it’s not as much as GamePass so not that big of a deal.

But I’m sick of subscriptions for shit I don’t even use. Everything nowadays has to be a subscription for no reason. Nintendo doesn’t even provide anything of valuable for theirs since I can’t even talk over it. I’m just paying for what used to be free on their past consoles.

You got a CD? Some of these boxes have just a piece of heavy paper with a code to download. Fortnite for Switch immediately comes to mind.

The only benefit of this is for those who want to pay for cash or those who want a physical box to display.

Speaking from experience, once you stop paying, they become available for purchase.

I let mine lapse and some Chinese gambling site picked it up for their own business. I always wondered why Chinese sites were coming to my site when I owned it lol.

If it’s a more obscure name, it’s likely it’ll just be one of those sites that advertises that it’s available until someone buys it.

I kept wondering what would keep me from updating to newer versions of Windows.

Yeahhhh…this is it. This and the inevitable forced Microsoft accounts that will come with this.

The Microsoft of the past was evil, but at least you could pay for an upgrade to the enterprise version that didn’t include this bullshit, but even the enterprise versions suffer from this stuff too!

They’re kind of working on one device that is basically smaller than an Apple TV and will connect to your TV and is thought to be strictly for streaming games and nothing more. Essentially would be this since you have no storage or resources for locally stored game playing.

This small device was seen on a shelf in a live stream a few years ago and there were some other rumors surrounding it.
