  • I don’t know why, but if I figure in my head him telling that word with his voice and his Argentinian accent it sounds almost funny.

Since he is a foreigner, I assume he does not fully understand how vulgar and derogatory that term is in Italian. The result is “hilarious”, because as a native you realize he didn’t mean to use that word, like e.g. when a child uses a swear word thinking it is in the right context while it’s not.

  • The party is called “Fratelli d’Italia” (lit. “brothers of Italy”) so no one is surprised the President’s brother-in-law is a Minister too. 😂

What is happening against journalists, writers, magistrates and anyone who tries to express criticism “in the name of public safety” is interesting because it would not be normally acceptable under normal conditions in a western democracy.

Unfortunately, the seeds of this started before the current alt-right government. It’s shocking that they are systematically being used now for political reasons but once there is a crack in the system it’s normal someone will try to exploit it to their own benefit.

  • Personally, I would be in favor of having polls because I frequently involve people in taking decisions.

But my use case is quite peculiar because (1) I need to know people’s opinion to take actions based on it, they would not be just informative polls (2) this group of people use Lemmy as their main interaction medium, no other platform is involved.

I’ve resorted to strawpoll in the past or in having comments with multiple options and relying on the most upvoted comment but these solutions have downsides.
