      Then writer probably only wanted to do it for a little bit longer. So given a finite end in the real world it’s nice to have some closure.

        This is the best case. Too often, a story gets dragged out while maintaining it’s status quo or abandoned. This gives it a conclusion while also leaving the possibility for the author to fill in the gap if they feel inspired.
