Russia and Ukraine both suck shit but I hope we all agree that a Russian victory and peace is and was always the best outcome. Honestly it should’ve happened over a year ago but Genocide Joe needed more skulls for his skull throne
If we were talking about this in 2013 i’d definitely agree. But i think it’s pretty hard to deny that Ukraine definitely sucks more than Russia at this point. I mean there are a lot of bad things about Russia but at least in Russia you don’t get dragged off the street into an unmarked van to be beat up and sent to the front lines after a week of what can barely be called training. At least Russia isn’t committing literal terrorist attacks, it doesn’t arm and train ISIS and Al Qaeda in using drones, and it doesn’t send its soldiers to help those terrorist groups to destabilize and topple anti-imperialist governments in Africa and the Middle East. At least Russia hasn’t made it official state policy to glorify Nazi collaborators. I also think you’d be hard pressed to find instances of Russia bombing civilians just for the hell of it like Ukraine does, despite the fact that they have way more ammunition to spare and Ukraine doesn’t. It’s not Russia that declared its intention to “become a larger Israel” (Zelensky literally said that).
Yes Russia sucks when it comes to a bunch of things, but i think there’s no contest if we’re talking about who is worse.
Ukraine is directly supporting the white supremacists capitalist world order while russia is directly confronting it. Russia under Putin is doing more to make the future safe for socialist than almost anyone. Certainly more than dem-sucs like lula are.
Russia may have issues with private property protections and their central bank being privately owned but the longer they are in direct conflict with global capitalism the more they are pushed towards socialism. Russians have an increasingly nostalgic view of the USSR and the government has raised minimum wages and increased social programs since the war began. They do have reactionary lgbtq policies but really they aren’t much worse than the west and they are certainly less racist. I’d pick a anti-racist homophobe over a racist lgbtq ally any day.
Honestly I’d say that Russia is one of the least sucky nations that isn’t explicitly socialist. Sure China is less sucky but really after China there is nobody even close to Russia in it’s capability and willingness to confront white supremacists capitalist imperialism. Also I feel like as China’s tactic of economic anti-imperialism is nearing its point of diminishing returns Russia’s current situation ensures China will be able to change gears when it becomes nessciary and know which gear to change into.
Note that Biden’s war was a prerequisite for the trade war that Trump is doing right now. The war in Ukraine severed relations between Russia and Europe. If that hadn’t happened, then Europeans would’ve most likely got further integrated with the east as a response to the tariffs that are coming. Now, they’re basically stuck without any good options.
