    Why not just call it out directly?

    They are opposing Palestinian full membership bc of political calculation.

    This is what I don’t get about Chinese FP in general: why are you playing it so safe even when the situation is so blatant???

      Because China has everything to lose, and very little to gain from shaking the hornets nest. Would it be the moral and correct thing to do to get involved? Yes. But China sees little to no point in risking its position for essentially nothing in return.

        You make it seem like I asked for Chinese boots on the ground in Gaza.

        It’s literally just a statement, they can do that. If they can’t even make a statement, I don’t see how they’re going to ever reunify with Taiwan.

          I never said you wanted Chinese boots on the ground. I just said that China sees nothing to gain from shaking the hornets nest that is the Palestinian question at all. That includes making a statement.

          Diplomatically China has little to gain from “challenging” the status quo. Even if it’s with something as small as a statement.

          If they wanted to they obviously would have by now.
