As vice president, Harris was tasked with addressing the "root causes" of migration. That did not mean she was in charge of "the border" or its "czar."

    Work to address the issues in the countries people are migrating from, which will eventually reduce the number of people wanting to leave those countries.

    It’s not an easy quick fix, so the people who care about the issue won’t care that it’s probably the best way to stop illegal immigration.
