    I wonder how Apple will respond. The Secure Enclave Processor is hardware-paired to the board and the Face ID/Touch ID sensor. The explanation does make some sense initially, without this pairing I could construct a fake Touch ID sensor that always returns true, and use that to unlock a locked iPhone… except many similar security features are fully capable of supporting repairing and still protect the data, by using secret key pairs to encrypt the data.

    But then what? There’s no way they’ll have a different SOC on iPhones sold in one specific state, and if they allow repairing there, it’s effectively allowed everywhere.
