The reported friendly-fire incident in Jabalia is one of the deadliest since the war began.

These Israeli soldiers must have been terrorists. I guess it’s true what people say about IDF. They shoot anything that moves.
Hamas tunnels in their aorta
And with all the bombing IDF soldier are probably the last thing moving there
Last thing or not, bombings and shootings will continue until
the morale improvesthe beach houses are built.
they must have looked like kids
They were really far away, so they looked tiny.
How could Hamas do this?
According to the IDF’s website, 44 of the soldiers killed in Gaza as of Wednesday - 15% of the total - died as a result of what it describes as “operational accidents”.
This seems really high.
Probably a lot higher as well. Historically friendly fire numbers make up anywhere from 2-20% of casualties. The actual amount reported tends to go up the longer people have to investigate the engagements. And most governments are motivated to cover up friendly fires until at least until the war is over.
Typically the more lopsided the war is, the more likely friendly fire will make up a large part of your combat casualties. That is why around a quarter of the combat losses in the first Gulf war was friendly fire.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the actual friendly fire rate is closer to 25-40% of their combat casualties considering they’re mostly made of poorly drilled conscripts.
15% of deaths being helicopter crashes from trying to medivac semen sounds about right for the IDF tbh
uncritical support for the IDF going after war criminals
It’s a good start!
did the soldiers condemn Hamas?
Finally living up that nickname of most moral army in the world.
Congrats to the IDF for receiving this week’s IDF Destroyer award
The tanks identified a weapon in the building and fired two shells towards it, the probe found.
Seven other soldiers were injured by the tank fire, three of them severely.Sounds like a tank gunner panic’ed when he/she saw a possible weapon that could take out the tank, with no communication for ground troops.
Another tragic loss of life. So Netanyahu can escape corruption charges.
with no communication for ground troops.
I mean, friendly fire due to miscommunication seems like a problem any army would have anticipated and planned for.
ooof… friendly fire.
Why is lemmy.zip still federated with Hexbear??
Some concrete examples of instances which we would defederate: An instance which is focused on creating spam in the network
Why doesn’t spamming authoritarian propaganda count? Better to have corporate ads than dictators’ lies.
Just because you dont like their content doesn’t mean it’s spam. Just filter hexbear posts and grow some thicker skin
It’s not normal content, it’s propaganda. Whether that’s technically spam or not, it’s disinformation and intentionally corrosive content designed to spread division and hate.
It’s not about me filtering out their propaganda and creating an echochamber. It’s about resisting propaganda from dictators, and about playing a part in the Fediverse to help it survive and replace corporate social media.
People checking out Lemmy see Hexbear comments and go back to Reddit or wherever they came from. There are constant threads asking “how can I block a whole instance”.
You know, you don’t have to be here if you don’t like the instance’s policies. You’re free to defederate yourself.
Having an opinion someone doesn’t agree with doesn’t make it invalid. I’m not an instance admin, so I have no say in who gets defederated, but in this community I welcome all opinions, no matter how popular or unpopular they might be.
People from democratic countries might call anything that doesn’t agree with their world view a propaganda, yet on the flip side, countries from non-democratic countries might call anything that doesn’t agree with their world view a propaganda. If we can’t discuss our differences, then we are living in a bubble. If someone is never challenged, how can they refine their own position?
Rhetorical question to think about. Americans are likely to elect self-proclaimed authoritarian in the next election, should everyone defederate from instances that allow their opinions too?
In any case, this is not a place for this discussion. I would suggest making a post in !home@lemmy.zip.
I’m tolerant of different opinions, authoritarian propaganda isn’t a different opinion, it’s large scale coordinated misinformation. In this case coming from a government that has a long history of brutally killing people with “the wrong opinion”.
I also am not sure. My instance is also federated with them. I mostly just see CCP propaganda from them.
Exactly. The responses I’m getting here are ignoring what I’m saying and acting like they’re just people with opinions I don’t like.
