  • Bon got his first assignment as an Official Time Patrol and proceeded to make the same rookie mistake: not turning on his forgetter. He also could not resist showing off his awesome time powers to Yumiko, which also served as something akin to a recap of Time Patrol’s tools and abilities, as well as a cameo of Ream. The Time Patrol had given Bon some time off since last episode’s happenings, so Bon felt nostalgic seeing her again.

Yumiko of course wanted to become a Time Patrol after the experience. Seems like her wish would be fulfilled too and we’ll see her assisting Bon in the coming episodes. Buyoyon also came back and joined them.

  • The guy that made that Chuunibyou move “my eyes hurts when I use their power too much” then hurt them for real by looking at Rick was hilarious.

We found out Rick’s mentors (one in particular) deceived him into thinking he was weak. Well at least he realized he was “stronger than he thought” now and knew now people was far less discipline than him can already be A-ranked. We’ll see how he’ll do with this information.

Depends on how much time he spent training with those time magics, Angelica might be correct in calling him “around 40”.

An examiner used the most powerful magic known to mankind in a low-rank exam and nobody blinked an eye?

Everybody is weak when you compare them to Saitama…… Having said that, I just realized that Rick basically one-punched Raster.

  • Finally caught up with this series.

One thing that stands out in this episode is the beautiful poem by Osada Hiroshi that Kurushima recited. Turns out the inclusion of such a long scene in the anime is by the author’s request: it was supposed to be in the life-action TV drama adaptation years ago, but on the day it was scheduled to be filmed (2011-03-11), the Tohoku earthquake happened; they were not able to film it and it was cut out.

It is a pretty good adaptation overall I think, even though many things are cut out from the source material due to length. (The source manga is 21 volumes long and we are at around volume 8 & 9.) I certainly enjoyed it very much. I still don’t know why they decided to re-adapt a series from 20 years ago but I am glad it happened.
