As the conflict in Sudan rages on, UN Women is drawing attention to the devastating impact of the fighting on women and girls. Among the consequences are an increased risk of sexual violence, and reduced access to health services including for childbirth, for more than 160,000 pregnant women.

Too many men want a ‘hard world’ which produces ‘strong men’, which really means ‘a failing society which disenfranchises women and children’ so that ‘men can do what they want and say they deserve it because they worked so hard getting drunk together’.

I am all for giving women training and weapons so they can tell men to fuck off using language and also action, when necessary.

Agreed until the last part. Pretty sure adding more weapons to an active conflict never works. The better idea would be a cultural shift in teaching ppl not to be complete pieces of shit

When desires can be fulfilled through violence, it will be hard to teach people who crave their desires to abandon violence.

America should be the perfect example of violence begets violence. You wouldn’t argue arming teachers would lower the amount of school shootings would you?
