Back when “The Flat Earth Society” was all about trolling and making an elaborate scientific joke and not hardcore extremist science deniers.
Can you explain this one to my ignorant ass? What’s the joke?
The joke is the absurdity of a flat earth and making puns like “all around the globe” in that context and creating absurdist proof that the Earth is flat despite everyone knowing since kindergarten that it isn’t.
But some people started taking it too seriously.
Oh, I guess I got that part but was expecting there to be a pun I didn’t get in the “read that again slowly” text.
They either got wooooshed or are taking part on that joke …
It is flat, you just don’t see it. Gravity curves space/time into a globe.
Wait a second. Gravity doesn’t exist! The flat earth is constantly accelerating! You’re one of THEM!
Actually no, gravity is the behaviour we see due to warped space/time, caused by the earth’s mass. Just like it causes light to bend.
There’s not much I miss about Reddit, but one of those things is a proper community to put jokes that have been run into the ground. The unnecessary arrow is one thing, but then the second reaction image really kill the otherwise mildly amusing joke.
made with mematic
You know, I really think that without that arrow and the picture of people facepalming at the bottom, I wouldn’t have understood why this was funny
Since I’ve seen this last time it’s gotten moldy and picked up a useless arrow and a useless reaction image.
This! It clearly needs more JPEG though. Here, I fixed it: https://morejpeg.com/Image/View/ed39fea5-0150-ef11-8104-ea49aec8cc27

This joke is over 100 years old
The Flat Earth Society is meeting here today / Singing happy little lies / And the bright ship Humana is well on its way / With grave determination, / And no destination
Wait people think this is real?
Like rain on your wedding day!
Thank you for including a reaction image so I know how to feel about it.
I’m just waiting for Elon Musk to come out as a flat earther. It’s about as absurd for the CEO of an EV company to support Trump as it would be for the CEO of a space company to believe in a flat earth.
