I remember when the CEO did a ted talk about the pun and everyone was so impressed because he came from apple. It just goes to show how much of tech is made up of sales people and consultants while good talent is truly hard to find.
Worse is better. If this whole thing crashes hard enough to make normies sceptical, then it’s worth the pain.
Serious instruments should be treated as such.
For their trouble, Humane says it’s offering two free months of their Humane subscription, which is the $24-a-month data plan to use the device.
Wait, so this piece of crap costs $700, and you have to pay more than the cost of a Netflix subscription (assuming that hasn’t gone up again while I write this) just to ask ChatGPT questions without using your prefectly good phone?
Oh and by the way if you want it in white it’s actually $800
Jesus Christ. And people actually bought this thing?
I know the Venn diagram of “People who buy into AI tech hype” and “People who bought into crypto” is basically a circle, but even so, that is some unbelievable levels of begging to be scammed. I’m starting to think this whole scene is just people with a very specific humiliation kink.
I honestly can’t think of a single good reason to own it.
I never got what made these pins humane are they trained on data that they got permission for? Or did they use an ai model that does not use much energy thus not destroying the environment?

Seems a bit misleading at least with apple it is obvious that it is not a fruit but calling a company Humane you expect it to be more ethical.

Apparently this wasn’t always that obvious.

Even if they used such a model, and they didn’t, I’m sure plenty of it would be manufactured with conflict minerals in factories with horrendous labor practices.
There is no such thing as humane electronics. That’s an unfortunate fact.
That’s some hot tech right there. I bet HP would buy it for 1 billion dollars!
All 10000 of them must be really concerned right now. Frankly 10000 too many.
Can the poor owner of this thing charge it in some other way? Not that he/she would need or want to…
